The Committee considers issues relating to the development of human resources in Member States and assists the PAP to promote policy development and implementation of programmes of the AU relating to access to education, promotion and preservation of culture and tourism and human resource development. The 2009–2010 sessions commemorated the 50th anniversary of independence of 17 African states, while the 2011 sittings focused on unequal education and the creation of a 2012 action plan to tackle the various challenges in this area as well as tourism
