The Committee considers issues relating to the promotion of gender equality while also assisting Parliament to oversee the development of policies and activities of the AU relating to family, youth and people with disability. Capacity building was the emphasis in 2010, while in 2011 the focus was on the decade of women. In 2012 it called for more participation of people with disabilities in civil society
