COMMITTEE ON MONETARY AND FINANCIAL AFFAIRS (2013)

The Committee’s responsibilities are to examine the draft estimates of the Parliamentary budget and submit these to Parliament, discuss the budget of the AU and make recommendations. The Committee must report to Parliament on the problems involved in the implementation of the annual budget and assist it in executing its role of establishing sound economic, monetary and investment policies. Some of the issues raised during the 2010 and 2011 sessions included incompatible financial systems, a lack of staff and improving communication, while in 2012 ways to tackle monetary policy matters affecting Africa were examined

COMMITTEE ON JUSTICE AND HUMAN RIGHTS (2013)

The Committee is tasked with assisting the PAP in its role of harmonising and co-ordinating the laws of its Member States, promoting respect for and developing sound principles of freedom, civil liberty, justice, human rights and fundamental rights within the AU. The first session in August 2010 focused on the African Peer Review Mechanism and the PAP’s role in it, while the March 2011 sessions highlighted the humanitarian crises in Africa.
