The Committee is tasked with the development of common regional and continental policies in the agriculture sector and assisting the PAP to oversee and aid with the harmonisation of policies for rural and agricultural development. It also promotes development policy and the implementation of AU programmes relating to natural resources and the environment. During 2010 the Committee focused on its efficiency, water-related issues and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals on the continent. In 2011 Members received training on aid, while in 2012 they attended the World Water Forum
