The Committee is tasked with considering issues relating to the development and use of transport, science and technology, and communications infrastructure. It assists the PAP to oversee the development and implementation of policies of the AU relating to these areas across the continent. During its 2010 session it focused on challenges such as its budget and issues with the AU. During its 2011 session, the Committee discussed its 2012 Action Plan, while in 2012 it concentrated on the ratification process of the African Maritime Transport Charter
